TSPA #0022

Author: Tito Dutta

TSPA #0022 is an eight-panel wordless comic. Ti stands beside a colourful, brain-shaped weighing machine piled with clocks, photographs, tangled objects, stones and other visual symbols of mental burdens. As the pile gradually shrinks, the sky and landscape brighten and Ti's expression develops from distress to calm, then to clear happiness. In the final panel, the scale is empty and Ti stands peacefully in a luminous landscape.

Visual description

This wordless comic uses a surreal brain-shaped weighing machine to represent the mind. At first, its weighing pan is overloaded with a dense jumble of clocks, photographs, papers, tangled branches, stones and other objects. Ti appears distressed beside it. Across the following panels, the pile gradually diminishes and the surrounding landscape shifts from stormy, dark colours to vivid daylight, greenery and open sky. Ti’s body language changes progressively from tension and uncertainty to ease, relief and happiness. In the final panel, the weighing pan is empty and Ti stands with a clear, contented smile in a bright landscape.

The objects are symbolic rather than labelled: the comic contains no dialogue, captions or written words within the panels. The changing weight and atmosphere invite readers to interpret the burden of rumination, memories, imagined futures and expectations for themselves.
